Reverend James E. Brewer, age 89, of Rockmart, GA passed away Friday July 4, 2025 at his residence.
Rev. Brewer was born on July 11, 1935 son of the late Robert and Bertha Brewer of Cedartown, GA. Living most of his life in Polk county, he was a graduate of Cedartown High School. He retired from the Goodyear Mill in Rockmart and for many years customized and built cabinets for local residents and businesses. Rev. Brewer pastored Wimberly Hill Baptist Church ,Cedartown for 5 years, Van Wert Baptist Church, Rockmart for 24 years and Friendly Baptist Church, Cedartown for 5 years.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years, Aileen McDowell Brewer, his second wife of 10 years, Evelyn Cook Brewer, his brother Junior Brewer and by his step granddaughter Detective Kristen Hearn.
Rev. Brewer with his wife Aileen is survived by his son, Ronald "Ronnie" Brewer (wife Patricia), grandson, Jonathan "Matt" Brewer (wife Sebrinia), step grandson Joseph Montgomery, three great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren. He is survived with his wife Evelyn Brewer, step daughter Karen Ingle (husband Danny), step son, Ricky Cook (wife Paula), four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
In keeping with his wishes a "Homegoing service" will be held Tuesday July 8, 2025 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Vines and Rev. Steven Swift officiating. Interment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens with Rev. Corey Smith officiating.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at the funeral home.
Active pallbearers will include: Joseph Montgomery, Phil Hulsey, Joe Benefield, Lonnie Nale, Jimmy Welchel and Chris Pruitt . Honorary pallbearers will include members of the Adult Mens Sunday School Class of Friendly Baptist Church.
We are so grateful for the love and joy he brought into our lives, for living and setting a perfect example of a Christian life. He will be greatly missed. "Go rest high on that mountain Pop"
