Richard “Ricky” Hatfield, age 76, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Tuesday morning, April 7, 2026, at his residence.
Ricky was born in Cartersville, GA, on April 21, 1949, to the late Paul A. Hatfield, Jr. and Sarah Aileen Owens Hatfield. He was a devoted member of New Life Baptist Church in Dallas, GA, where his love for the Lord was evident to all who knew him. He found great joy in attending church, listening to good preaching, and enjoying gospel singing.
Ricky had a deep love for working in his shop, caring for his lawn, and often helping others with theirs, and drag racing. He dedicated his entire career to Lockheed Martin, where his passion for airplanes never faded.
Above all, Ricky was a loving and supportive husband, father, and grandfather. He was known for his warm smile and the special nicknames he gave to those he loved most.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Paula Mock, and his sister-in-law, Susan “Susie” Lynn Hatfield.
Ricky is survived by his beloved wife, Edna Pilgrim Hatfield, whom he married on June 27, 1981; a brother, Eddie Hatfield; his children, Owen Hatfield, Rusty Hatfield, and Allison (Greg) Good; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services for Ricky will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home, with Dr. James Howard Mills officiating. Interment will follow at Polk Memory Gardens in Cedartown, with Pastor Grant Hardeman officiating.
Ricky’s family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home on Saturday from 12:00 noon until the service hour.
Pallbearers will include Rusty Hatfield, Owen Hatfield, Eddie Hatfield, Shepard Hatfield, Bobby Pilgrim, Tim Pilgrim, Jerry Campbell, and Cory Tibbitts.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to New Life Baptist Church, P.O. Box 97, Dallas, GA, 30132, or Calvary Baptist Church, 312 Atlantic Avenue, Bremen, GA, 30110.
