Ricky Scoggins

Mr. Ricky Lamar Scoggins, age 62, of Rockmart, GA passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2016 in a Rome medical center.

He was born in Atlanta, GA on August 1, 1954, a son of the late Donald Scoggins and Hazel Tucker Scoggins. Mr. Scoggins had lived the greater part of his life in Polk County and was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church. One of Mr. Scoggins favorite hobbies was restoring classic cars. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Lee Scoggins.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Janice Scoggins of Rockmart, GA to whom he was married on May 11, 1972; daughter, Tracy Argo and her husband Jon, Rockmart; two sons: James Scoggins and his wife Marta, Russellville, AK and Cody Scoggins, Rockmart; seven grandchildren; one great grandson; one sister, Kathy Fincher, Cedartown; three brothers: Dewayne Scoggins, Silver Creek, Hobie Scoggins, Aragon and Chris Scoggins, Rockmart; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 23, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Tony Weaver officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include: Dewayne Scoggins, Hobie Scoggins, Chris Scoggins, Toby Fincher, Dustin Scoggins and Ryan Scoggins.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 until 8 PM at the funeral home.
