Riley J. Henson

Mr. Riley J. Henson, age 93, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Friday morning, January 30, 2026, at his residence.

Riley J. Henson, best known to many as “Shark,” was born on September 9, 1932, in Paulding County, Georgia. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War from 1952 to 1960.

Riley was a hardworking man and successful business owner, known for owning and operating Henson’s Package and Vanwert Pawn. Throughout his life, Riley was known for his strength, dedication, and love for his family. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who cherished time spent with those closest to him.

Riley enjoyed working in his yard, spending quality time with family including his four-legged companion, Roxi, and he never turned down a good breakfast, especially at Waffle House and Linda’s, places that brought him comfort and joy.

Riley was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Lizette Henson; grandsons, Zegan Mills and Jesse Hayworth; brothers, Otis Henson and Ralph Henson; and his loving companion, Roxi.

He is survived by his children: Melissa Radford (Shannon), Pamela Hayworth (Joe), and Timothy Henson (Darlene). Grandchildren: C.J. Bunch (Kayla), Colton Bunch (Brittany), Cali Henson, Jace Radford, Linsey Radford, Laney Radford. Great-grandchildren: Paisley, Zegan, Weston, Remington, Beaux, Connor, Paislee, Brittany, Jax, and Tree.

Riley will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

Funeral services for Riley will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Vernon officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites provided by Brown-Wright Post #12 American Legion Honor Guard.

Riley's family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour.

Pallbearers will be: C.J. Bunch, Colton Bunch, Weston Bunch, Jace Radford, Timothy Henson, and Joe Hayworth. Honorary pallbearers will be: Zegan Henson, Shannon Radford, Rick Hicks and Jack Goss.
