Rita Frances Powell

Mrs. Rita Frances Powell, age 61, of Rockmart, GA, passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2022.

Mrs. Powell was born on November 26, 1960 in Rome, GA to her parents, Bill and Frances Cain Hayes. Rita lived all her life in Rockmart and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. In her free time, she enjoyed swimming, fishing, taking walks in the park and watching The Braves and The Falcons play. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family and her precious grandchildren. Mrs. Powell was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Kathy Hayes Strickland.

Mrs. Powell is survived by her loving husband, Benny Powell of Rockmart, GA, son, Ben Powell of Rockmart, GA, daughter, April Belcher (Richard) of Rockmart, GA, 2 grandchildren: Katelyn Ballard and Chevy Ballard, brother, Raymond Hayes (Valerie) of Chatsworth, GA, sister Deanna Womack (Mike) of Cedartown, GA, and a number of loving nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Rita Frances Powell will be held on Friday, January 14, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Friendship Baptist Church with Preacher Keith Clark officating. Interment will follow the service at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be the following gentlemen: Mark Forsyth, Patrick Hayes, Justin Womack, Casey Booth, Arnie Cain and Barry Cole.

The family will receive friends at Friendship Baptist Church on Friday, January 14, 2022 from 1:00 PM until the service hour at 2:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that memorial donations be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
