Robert "Bobby" Louis Helms, Jr.

Mr. Robert “Bobby” Louis Helms, Jr., age 67, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Monday morning, October 13, 2025, at his residence.

Mr. Helms, born on April 29, 1958, in Abbeville, SC, was the son of the late Robert Louis Helms, Sr., and Mrs. Barbara Jean George. Originally residing in Smyrna, he was a 30-year resident of Rockmart.

Bobby attended Wills High School, and later obtained his Bachelor’s degree from Kennesaw College, now known as Kennesaw State University. He also earned his Master of Ministry and Bible from Covington Theological Seminary. He was an ordained deacon and held his certificate of license in Gospel and Ministry. Along with gaining knowledge and wisdom through school, he also did so with many fond years spent at Norton Park Baptist Church. Bobby was well known for helping plant many churches and had a strong, unwavering faith in the Lord.

Bobby loved the outdoors, especially deer hunting. He enjoyed being a member of a hunting club in South Georgia and cherished the times he spent there. In his younger days, he enjoyed panning for gold in Dahlonega and had a passion for landscaping. He owned and operated Helms Lawn Care for over 40 years.

He loved his family deeply and was an especially wonderful grandfather to his granddaughter.

In addition to his father, Mr. Helms was preceded in death by his brother, Kurt Helms; father-in-law, Robert Solomon; mother-in-law, Diane Solomon; and a nephew, Isaac Solomon.

Bobby is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Teresa Helms; his son, Nic (Alissa) Helms; his daughter, Michelle (Jeff) Holstein; his granddaughter, Ella Holstein; his mother, Barbara Helms; his sister, Donna (Gregg) Bates; a brother-in-law, Michael (Stacey) Solomon; and 2 nieces and 1 nephew also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Helms will be held on Thursday afternoon, October 16, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. in the Rockmart First Methodist Church with Pastor Rodney Willingham, Rev. Jonathan Blackmon, and Chaplain James Kenton officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Bobby’s family will receive friends Wednesday evening, October 15, 2025, at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will include Jon Carter, Riley Carter, Michael Solomon, Ted Helms, Greg Bates, and Todd Williams.
