Robert "Robbie" Doyle Strickland

Mr. Robert “Robbie” Doyle Strickland, age 68, passed away, Tuesday, October 24, 2023.

Mr. Strickland was born, December 9, 1954, in Atlanta, Georgia, son of Bobby D. Strickland and Betty June Strickland Bouler.

Robbie was a resident of Rockmart and had retired with over 30 years of service with the International Union of Operating Engineers as a crane operator. If a person is defined by the things they loved, then Robbie was an outdoorsman in every sense of the word. He loved horses and roping, he got a thrill from hunting and fishing, and even if it wasn't any particular activity, he just liked rambling about town checking up on his family and friends and harassing the sweet and patient staff at Bradford Drugs in Cedartown. But his greatest joy came from being a Pa-Paw, the spelling of which was very important to him. He took that job very seriously and it gave his life purpose.

In addition to his father, Mr. Strickland was preceded in death by his soulmate and wife, Joan Strickland.

He is survived by his mother, Betty June; children: Justin Strickland and his wife, Naomi, Heather Hayes and her husband, Patrick, Rhonda Holcombe and her husband, Steve, and Dawn Richardson; grandchildren: Sophie Strickland, Braxton Hayes, Tyler and Brittany Hudgins, Britney and Dylan Pope, and Cody Richardson; siblings: Tommy Strickland and his wife, Lisa, Chanta VanPatten and her husband, David, James Dial and his wife, Sandy. He is also survived by his loving friend, Claire Strickland, along with her children and grandchildren as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held on Monday, October 30, 2023, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Randy Rooks and Rev. Steve Flockhart officiating. Eulogies will be provided by Darya Barnes and Severo Avila.  Interment will follow at Melrose Hill Memorial Park, 9446 Villa Rica Highway, Villa Rica, Georgia 30180

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Tyler Hudgins, Will Allen, Steven Strickland, Preston Orr, Patrick Hayes, and Robert Pate.

Mr. Strickland’s family will receive friends Sunday, October 29, 2023, at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home & Crematory Funeral Home from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM.
