Robert "Lamar" Walraven, 97, of Dublin, GA, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love and quiet strength.
Born in 1928, Lamar dedicated 40 years of his life to a rewarding career at General Electric. He was an avid golfer until 2010, relishing every swing on the green.
In a world that often speaks too quickly, Lamar chose to move through life with intention. He never said an unkind word about anyone. Not once. When he did speak, it was often to deliver a perfectly timed, witty joke—always accompanied by a knowing smile and twinkle in his eyes. His steady character, gentle demeanor, and unwavering decency made him a rare kind of man—one whose kindness wasn’t loud but always heard.
He was a devoted family man who loved nothing more than being surrounded by his loved ones. His greatest joy was spending time with his wife Faye of 77 years, his two sons—Perry (Judy) and Ed (Yvonne)—and his grandchildren: Jennifer, Leslie, Betsy, Joe, and David. His love extended to his 18 great-grandchildren, each of whom brightened his days.
A Memorial Service for Lamar will be held on Monday, June 9, at 3:00 p.m. at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home in Rockmart, GA.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you share a kind word or a good joke with someone today—just as Lamar would have wanted.
