Mr. Robert “Woody” Cauley, age 82, of Taylorsville, GA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 13, 2025.
Born on March 19, 1943, Mr. Cauley was the son of the late Jimmy Ted Cauley and the late Nellie Hobbs Cauley. A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Woody devoted his life to service, both in the military and later in law enforcement. After his time in the Navy, he continued to serve his community through his work with the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, Rockmart Police Department, and the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office where he retired.
Woody was a resident of Taylorsville for over 30 years, where he found joy in the outdoors. He loved golfing, fishing, and spending time with his family and beloved dog, Bandit. Known for his warm heart and unwavering dedication, he left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Woody was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara Thomas Cauley on May 3, 2022.
Mr. Cauley is survived by his son, Keith (Barbara) Cauley; daughters, Lynn (Greg) Mills and Leah (Doug) Vickery; step-children, Jennifer Sanders Woods and Jody Lumpkin; grandchildren, Lee Cauley, Rachael (Robert) Fuschen, Kayla (Steven) Phillips, Rebecca (Bradley) Purvis, Doug (Tripp) Vickery, III, Cade Vickery, Avery (Gage) Moulder, Zeb Vickery, Cody (Kristi) Lumpkin and Dawson (Ava) Sanders; and eleven great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Cauley will be held in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 12:00 noon with Rev. Justin Grant officiating and his grandson, Cody Lumpkin delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens with the American Legion Brown-Wright Post #12 Honor Guard providing military graveside rites.
Mr. Cauley’s family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will include Cody Lumpkin, Dawson Sanders, Tanner Tucker, Lee Cauley, Rodney Sanders, and Tracy Samples.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations may be made to Georgia C.O.P.S. at www.concernsofpolicesurvivors.org.
