Roger Smith Brown

Mr. Roger Smith Brown, age 77, of Rockmart, passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2012 following a lengthy illness.


He was born in Rockmart, GA on October 29, 1935, a son of the late Robert Ernest Brown and the late Pearlie Lurine Locklear Brown. Mr. Brown had lived all of his life in the Yorkville area and had worked as a machinist. He loved his grandchildren dearly and in his spare time enjoyed fishing.


He was preceded in death by three sisters: Ruby Brown, Floy T. Johnson and Marie Brown and by six brothers: Robert Brown, Hoyt Brown, Tommy Brown, Gene Brown, Eddie Brown and Roland Brown.


Survivors include two daughters: Terri Lynn Locklear, Rockmart and Karen Ann Clark and her husband, Henry, Rockmart; one son, Roger Dale Brown and his wife Tammy, Buchanan; sister, Maureen Shackleford, Dallas; brother, Charles Brown and his wife Judy, Rockmart; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren also survive.


Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Yorkville Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will include: Jeremy Brown, Bradley Lopez, Timothy Brown, Tony Menchaca, Jesse Clark and Devin Gill. Honorary pallbearers will include: James Clark and Kain Hammonds.

The family will receive friends Friday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
