Rosemary Anna Palko Sieg, age 97, of Taylorsville, Ga, passed peacefully at home on September 13, 2026. Born December 4, 1928, to Joseph P. Palko Sr and Julia Trumbetas Palko in Simpson, Pa, she was of the Catholic faith.
Graduating from Waymart High School in 1945, she attended the Wayne Commercial School and was a bookkeeper at Matter’s garage where she met her husband, Clarence, a mechanic. She kept books for Clarence at his auto parts store, then ultimately retired from Wayne Memorial Hospital after more than 23 years as switchboard operator and registrar.
She is survived by her children, Joyce Smith (Dick), Clarence Sieg Jr., Dianne Troop, Tom Sieg (Cheryl), Debbie Smith (George), and Christine Green. Her grandchildren Ben Smith (Tori), Dana Smith, M elissa Smith (Mitch), Kyle Troop (Tiffany), Angela Bates (Rick), Lauren Lienert (Marcus), Justin Sieg (Jen), Jessica French (Matt), Stephany Hickey, James Hickey and Rebecca Frisby (Matt). Her great-grandchildren Sam, Colter, Carson, Nolan, Rhett, Levi, Eva, Averett, Vanden, Damon, Anakin, Carter and Conner.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 47 years, Clarence, two children, William and Carol Ann, sister Anna Thomas, brothers Joseph, Paul, Leonard and John Palko, in-laws Guydon and Mildred Bortree Sieg, and son-in-law Ken Green.
Rosemary (Grandma Rosie) most-loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was looking forward to meeting her new granddaughter Samantha arriving later this fall. She enjoyed playing dominoes and bingo, was a wonderful baker of homemade bread and cinnamon rolls, listening to Josh Groban and Susan Boyle, and reminiscing about her younger days with her siblings and cousins in White’ s Crossing and Canaan.
The family would like to sincerely thank her special caregivers Cheryl Odom, Lynn Robinson and Laurie Lovelace, Diane McLamb and Lisa Warcup, who spent many hours entertaining and lovingly caring for her, Dr. Tom Bevil, for 35 years of care, Dr. Patel and Jina Ford at Advent Health, and Connie and Debra at Family Hospice.
Family will receive visitors Saturday 9/26 from 9am-11am with service to follow at 11 am at Hessling-Murray Funeral Home and graveside service at St Mary Magdalen Cemetery, Dyberry.
