Ruby Evelyn Woods Simmons

Mrs. Ruby Evelyn Woods Simmons, age 88, of Rockmart, GA passed away Monday, November 30, 2020 at her residence.

She was born in Cedartown, GA on October 27, 1932 a daughter of the late Carl Stephenson and the late Ruby Wilson Stephenson. Mrs. Simmons had lived all of her life in Polk County and she was a member of the Euharlee Baptist Church. She had worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for over 40 years having worked at Rockmart-Aragon Hospital, for Cedar Valley Nursing & Rehab, for Rockmart Nursing Home, for Dr. Paul Shumpert and for Dr. Paul Smith. She had also worked as a private sitter.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Billy Woods and her second husband, Billy Zeke Simmons; by two brothers: Robert and Albert Stephenson and by a sister, Elizabeth Stephenson.

Survivors include a son, Steve Woods and his wife Connie, Rockmart; granddaughter, Nonnie Woods, Rockmart; three sisters: Mittie Harrell, Conyers, Betty West, Fayetteville and Dollie Dansby, Rome; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 3, 2020 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Steven Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will include: Sammy White, Randy McDowell, Coleman White and David Pittman.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 12 noon until the funeral hour at the funeral home.
