Mrs. Sara Jo Moates, age 93, of Aragon, GA, passed away Sunday, November 23, 2025.

Mrs. Moates was born in Aragon on March 26, 1932, a daughter of the late Willard Deems and the late Annie Mae Cochran Deems. She had been a resident of Polk County all her life and was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church. Prior to retirement, Mrs. Moates worked for Engineered Fabrics. She loved antiquing, sewing, and celebrating her family.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Moates was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Moates, sisters, Jewell Pendergraft, and Agnes Bowers, and brothers, Coy Deems, Raven Deems, Raiford Deems, Floyd Deems, Fain Deems, Alton Deems, and Mack Deems.

Mrs. Moates is survived by three children, Kathy (Jackie) Cope, Danny (Shannon) Holland, and Jan (Barry) Gore; two sisters, Iva Joyce Bowman and Onita Lindsey. Six grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren also survive.

Graveside and interment services for Mrs. Moates will be held on Wednesday morning, November 26, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Granddaughter, Amy Forsyth will deliver the eulogy and grandson, Corey Cope will bring the closing prayer.

Pallbearers will include Shane Forsyth, Drew Stinson, Corey Cope, Tim Gilstrap, Barry Jackson, and Blake Sutton.
