Obituary

Steve Swan, age 60, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Wednesday afternoon, August 5, 2026.

Steve was born in Rockmart on January 2, 1966, the son of the late James Edward Swan and Ruby Baker Swan. A lifelong resident of Polk County, he was a 1984 graduate of Rockmart High School. Steve made his living as a skilled brick mason and found his greatest enjoyment in the outdoors. Whether he was off-roading, riding his Jeep through the trails, or spending time with family and friends, he embraced every opportunity for adventure. A devoted University of Georgia Bulldogs fan, Steve looked forward to football season each year, especially the fellowship that came with tailgating and preparing smoked meats for game days. His love for the outdoors, his hardworking nature, and the memories he created with those around him will be fondly remembered.

In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by two brothers, James Houston Swan and Thomas Swan.

Steve is survived by a son, Steven Swan (Ashley); three grandchildren, Annabelle Swan, Noah Swan, and Hazel Swan; brother, Gary Swan; companion, Leigh Ann Wood. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Steve will be held on Monday afternoon, August 10, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Chambers officiating. Interment will follow in New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery.

Steve’s family will receive friends at Alvis Miler & Son Funeral Home Sunday evening, August 9, 2026, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to serve the family of Steve Swan.
