Sylvia Gail Tomberlin

Mrs. Sylvia Gail Tomberlin, age 76, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Friday evening, January 16, 2026.

Mrs. Tomberlin was born in Dallas, GA, on March 27, 1949, a daughter of the late Floyd H. Brackett and Jackie Shelton Brackett. She had lived the greater part of her life in the New Hope community and was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church. Mrs. Tomberlin was a retired senior insurance adjuster and loved to sew, tend her flowers, and was always taking care of her daughters. She will be remembered for her smiles, laughter and enduring friendship. Mrs. Tomberlin was known to tell her grandchildren – “I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck”.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tomberlin was preceded in death by her husband, whom she married April 11, 1975.

Mrs. Tomberlin is survived by three daughters, Julie Marie Sockwell, Angelia “Jill” Roberson, and Trisha Lynn Chavallier; grandchildren, Hailey Ward, Caleb Haught, Chloe Perez, Ella Flack, Olivia Perez, Ashley Noack, Kaci Roberson, Kylie Dunning, and Maddison Dunning; brothers, Randall Brackett and Daniel Brackett. Six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Graveside and interment services for Mrs. Tomberlin will be held on Monday, January 19, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. in the Mt. Zion Cemetery with Dr. John Turner officiating.

Mrs. Tomberlin’s family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Monday from 2:00 until 3:30 p.m.

Pallbearers will include Caleb Haught, Randall Brackett, Clay Brackett, Jordan Brackett, Jared Brackett, and Brandon Brackett.
