Thomas “Tommy” Butler, age 86, of Rome, GA, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving wife and children on Thursday, June 4, 2026.
Tommy was born in Quitman, GA, on June 26, 1939, son of the late Clarence Hugh Butler and Annie Hill Butler. He was a truck driver for 71 years, driving for Trend Mills, Southeastern Mills, and JWH Transport. Tommy drove until he was 84 years old.
Tommy was a member of the Lindale Lodge #455 of the Free and Accepted Masons and was a member of the Shriners. He was a member of the Christian Fellowship Church where he served as a deacon and most recently attended Remnant Church of Adairsville. Tommy was also a member of the Johnny Agan Chapter of the Traveling Men.
Tommy was an avid sportsman who loved to hunt and fish.
In addition to his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Cooper, and brothers, Clarence Butler and Eugene W. Ivey.
Tommy is survived by his wife of 45 years, Donna Roberson Butler; daughters, Karen Thomas (Rob), Liza Canada, Kimberly Butler, Havyen Cooper, and Bella Cooper; son, Jamie Cooper; grandchildren, Cody Godwin, Callie Godwin, Shana Canada, Shane Canada, Chloe Thomas, Kyle Thomas, and Ethan Harris; bonus granddaughters, Abigail and Alanna Gilbert; special nephews, Cory Reynolds and John Roberson; his granddogs, Buster, Dixie, and Dolly.
Funeral services for Tommy will be held on Thursday afternoon, June 11, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Jody Cagle and Rev. Andrew Hight officiating. Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens with the Lindale Masonic Lodge # 455 F&AM conferring Masonic Graveside Rites.
Tommy’s family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour.
Pallbearers will include Cory Reynolds, John Roberson, Cody Godwin, Jamie Cooper and Allen Black.
