Thomas Dewayne "Tom" Hamby

Mr. Thomas DeWayne “Tom” Hamby, age 62, of Cedartown, GA, passed away Thursday evening, June 15, 2023.

Mr. Hamby was born in Oakland, CA on September 9, 1960, a son of Verlin Hamby, Sr. and Darlene Brown Hamby. Tom had been a resident of Polk County since 2019 and was a proud veteran of the United States Marines. He retired from the United States Post Office as a maintenance technician. In his free time, Mr. Hamby enjoyed shooting guns.

Tom was preceded in death by his father; and 2 brothers, Sam and Andrew Hamby.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Costlow Hamby, to whom he married on June 15, 2016; step-children, Kayla Mays, Wendy (Shane) Barger, Wayne (Janae) Womack, April Bussey, and Chris Beall; numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three brothers, Joe (Judy) Hamby, Phillip Hamby, and Verlin (Janie) Hamby, Jr.; sister, Bethel (Scott) Tibbedeaux; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Hamby will be held Monday, June 19, 2023 at 12:00 noon in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Arrington officiating. American Legion Brown-Wright Post #12 Honor Guard will provide military rites.

The family will receive friends Monday from 10:00 am until the funeral hour at the funeral home.
