He was born in Daytona Beach, Florida on March 21, 1969, a son of Paul L Shafer and Janice Henderson Shafer. He became a certified EMT in 1989 and went on to receive an Associate of Art degree from Daytona Beach Community College in 1990. Travis then moved to Georgia, met and married the love of his life, Kristi, and began a career in retail, managing at both Winn Dixie and Walmart. He returned to Florida where he attended and successfully completed the criminal justice program at Hillsborough Community college in 2003. Travis became a well respected deputy sheriff with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office in Tampa Florida from 2003--2013. He served the residents of the county proudly and received multiple certificates of commendation during his law enforcement career. Travis enjoyed keeping abreast of the current news, political environment and watching TV and movies. He loved life, his family, animals and friends and lastly, but not the least, he knew Jesus, the giver of eternal life. Proverbs 8:35.
