Velma Sorrells Cole

Mrs. Velma Sorrells Cole, age 82, of Rockmart, passed away Friday, March 8, 2013 in a Rome medical center following several months of declining health.

She was born in Rockmart, GA on March 1, 1931, a daughter of the late B. A. Sorrells and Emma Pearl Garrett Sorrells. Mrs. Cole had lived all of her life in Rockmart where she was a member of the Morning View Baptist Church. She was a thirty year employee of the Goodyear Mill. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred E. Cole on July 6, 2006; by a son, Randy Cole on January 12, 2012 and by eight brothers and seven sisters.

Survivors include a daughter, Patsy Williams and her husband Cecil, Rockmart; two sons: Larry Cole and his wife Vicky, Rockmart and Ricky Cole, Rockmart; three grandchildren: Angie Wessell, Larra Loveless and Matthew Cole; and three great grandchildren: Lacy Williams, Hayden Wessell and Hunter Wessell.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 10, 2013 at 3:30 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Royce Campbell and Rev. Charles Garrett officiating. Interment will follow in the New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include: Scott Wessell, Hayden Wessell, Hunter Wessell, Travis Kendrick, Michael Loveless and Johnny Coker.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
