Wayne Leon Taylor

Mr. Wayne Leon Taylor, age 87, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 11, 2025.

Mr. Taylor was born in Shannon, GA, on November 11, 1937, son of the late Leon Fay Taylor and Willie Everett Taylor. He had lived the greater part of his life in Aragon, GA, and was a member of the Euharlee Baptist Church. Mr. Taylor had been a member of the Davette Lodge #513 F&AM and loved to vacation with his family. Mr. Taylor was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during the Korean Conflict. He had worked for a number of years with General Motors Lakewood Assembly Plant, was the Chief of Police in Aragon in the 1970’s and retired from the City of Cedartown Transit Department.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia June “Patsy” Kellett Taylor, grandson, Joey Womack, brothers, William “Buddy” Taylor, Chandler Taylor, Jimmy Roach, J.D. Taylor, and Harold Taylor, and a sister, Bonita Waddell.

Mr. Taylor is survived by two daughters, Wanda (Barry) Cole, and Crystal (Jerry) Womack; son, Ricky (Andrea) Taylor; six grandchildren, April Womack, Ashley Lively (Cary Streetman), Michael Woodall (Brooke Kerr), Dusty (Tamara) Cole, Jodie (Josh) Kitchens, and Molly (Ladell) Allen; three sisters, Shirley Taylor, Linda Conway, and Kathy Robinson; two brothers, Ron Taylor, and Bobby Taylor. Twenty-three great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Taylor will be held on Saturday afternoon, June14, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the Euharlee Baptist Church with Rev. Clint Summerville and Rev. Barry Snapp officiating. Michael Woodall will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in Live Oak Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Womack delivering the graveside rites and Brown-Wright Post #12 Honor Guard of the American Legion providing military rites.

Mr. Taylor’s family will receive friends at Euharlee Baptist Church on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour.

Pallbearers will include Ricky Taylor, Michael Woodall, Clint Summerville, Dusty Cole, Kaden Pope, and Avery Beatty. Honorary pallbearers will include Ladell Allen, Brantley Mason, Avery Swift, Josh Kitchens, Derick Dodson, Cary Streetman, Easton Cole, and Lander Lester.
