Mr. William F. “Bill” Sims, age 88, of the Beulah Community, passed away Wednesday morning, July 29, 2026.
Mr. Sims was born in Rockmart, GA, on November 11, 1937, the son of the late Samuel Newton "Newt" Sims and Lou Smitherman Sims. He spent the greater part of his life in the Beulah Community, where he built a life rooted in faith, family, and service. Bill was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. He was the owner and operator of the Yorkville Market, where he was well known throughout the community and later dedicated many years to the Georgia Forestry Commission.
A member of Beulahland Baptist Church, Mr. Sims was also a devoted Mason, holding membership with Beulah Lodge #698 F&AM for more than 60 years. He and his beloved wife shared a passion for travel, creating treasured memories as they visited all 50 states together. He found great joy in spending time at his lake lot on Lake Weiss, where fishing provided both relaxation and happiness.
Bill was an enthusiastic Atlanta Braves fan, and he always enjoyed listening to music. Above all, he treasured the time spent with those he loved most. His greatest joy came from being surrounded by his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whose lives brought him immeasurable pride and happiness.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Sims was preceded in death by his loving wife, Martha Smith Sims; daughter, Kelli Weaver, an infant daughter, sister, Sarah Ratcliff, and a brother, Ralph Sims.
Mr. Sims is survived by a son, Stephen Ray Golden (Darlene); daughter, Cindy Cochran (Darrell); six grandchildren, Kayla Register (Josh), Elisabeth Eaves (Jamie), Brady Cochran (Kristen), Lauren Gulledge (Perry), Matthew Weaver, and Andrew Weaver; fourteen great-grandchildren, Ella Jane, Jackson, Juliana, Hadley, Grant, Reese, Charlie, Lily, Molly, Keslynn, Ava, Lakelynn, Cooper, and Isabella. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Sims will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Beulahland Baptist Church with eulogies given by Andrew Weaver, Matthew Weaver and Cindy Cochran. Interment will follow in Beulahland Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites provided by the Brown-Wright Post #12 of the American Legion Honor Guard.
