Obituary for Charles Edward (C.E.) Estes

Mr. Charles Edward (C.E.) Estes, age 75, of Rockmart, GA passed away Friday, October 18, 2019 in a Rome medical center.

He was born in Rome, GA on January 9, 1944, a son of the late Charlie Edward Estes, Sr. and the late Martha Terry Estes. He had lived all of his life in Polk County and was a member of the Morning View Baptist Church where he was an RA Leader and ambassador. C.E. enjoyed woodworking, making knives, working with leather and guns. He was an avid NASCAR fan always watching the race on Sunday afternoons. He was a loving husband, father , grandfather and great grandfather. He was a former employee of Best Manufacturing and retired from Shaw Industries in 2006.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Estes and a great-granddaughter, Lakelyn Camp.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Frances Leatherwood Estes, Rockmart to whom he was married on November 3, 1962; daughter, Lisa Bennett (Kent), Rockmart; son, Shane Estes (Leslie), Rockmart; seven grandchildren: Ashley Goddard (Matt), Charlie D. Estes, Callie Bennett, Whitney Fuqua (Bull), Emily Camp (J.T.), Zach Estes (Brittany) and Payden Bennett; eight great-grandchildren: Anslee, Brantley, Kaiylee, Hayden, Adyleigh, Brendan, Lilly and Dallis; and one on the way, Lawson; brother, Terry Estes (Judy), Cedartown; sister, Sue Duke (Jimmy), Aragon; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 21, 2019 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Wright and Rev. Jeff Hulsey officiating. Interment will follow in Rockmart Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will include: J.T. Camp, Zach Estes, Bull Fuqua, Payden Bennett, Matt Goddard and Taylor Gilmer. Honorary pallbearers will include his great-grandsons: Brantley, Hayden and Brendan.

The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
